「妙福寺庭園」福岡県

妙福寺（浄土真宗）の縁起は安土桃山時代、寺の裏山に城が築かれ山裾に小さな城下町が形成されていました。妙福寺はその城下町に開かれた寺の一つで、庭園は城山から流れ出した自然の小川・金屑川(かなくずがわ)を利用して作られ、陥没型（サンクンガーデン）の「沈床園」とも呼ばれる日本では大変珍しい庭園様式です。沈床園にはいくつかのタイプがあり円形に沈むタイプが多いですが、この庭は中心を横切る小川に向かって庭全体が両側からV字型の谷のように沈み込んでいます。また座観式庭園として書院側から見下ろして鑑賞するようにも地割りされています。庭の石組みは親鸞の生涯を表現しているとの説もあるそうです。築山上部の三尊石の中尊石の上部が意図的に割られ再接合されています。子孫繁栄を祈る陰陽石の陽石と思われます。自然の小川を利用して作られているので何度も水害にあい砂や土砂に埋もれたそうですが、その度に掘り起こされ復活してきた庭です。また新しいサンクンガーデンとしては、大分県中津市「渓石園」内の芝生斜面に石垣囲って円形に沈床したモダンな作庭例もあります。妙福寺庭園の公開日は２・３・４・６・７・９・１０・１１月の毎月１日の１３：００～１４：００のみです。必ず寺に問い合わせてから出かけてください。お寺が多忙な場合は予定日でも公開されない場合もあります。見学希望の場合は必ず事前に電話連絡で予約をとってからお出かけください。

必ず事前に予約すること。基本的に見学は無料ですが、御本尊にお参りして志納することは自由です。

Myofuku-ji temple was founded in 1575 Azuchi-Momoyama period. This garden of the temple is very rare Sunken Garden in Japan. The garden sinks like valleys from both sides towards a stream of nature that flows across the middle. The garden was buried with earth and sand by the floods many times in the past. But it was found and restored each time. In recent years the garden was buried but it seems that the stone group did not move when digging up. There is a theory that it is unknown what the garden expresses, but Shinran's lifetime is represented. There is a mysterious stone that the upper part was broken and reattached.

The release date is only 13: 00-14: 00 on the 1st of February, March, April, June, July, September, October, November. Be sure to call upon the temple after calling the temple.
