「恵日寺」佐賀県・"Enichiji temple” Saga Pref

安土桃山時代に豊臣秀吉が唐津の西に名護屋城を築いた際、御伽衆の一人・曽呂利新左衛門が作庭したと伝わる庭。唐津のシンボル鏡山の斜面から流れ落ちる滝の水が注ぐ池泉庭は室町時代以降に山寺などで多く作られた古い様式に属します。往時から現在までの長い月日の中で様々な改修を受けており、現在の穏やかで落ち着いた庭の景観からは安土桃山の豪放華麗さは感じられず江戸時代中期以降の作庭のように見えます。しかし白砂を敷いた枯山水と実際に水をたたえた池泉が同居するスタイルは豊臣秀吉ゆかりの醍醐寺三宝院の庭を思い出させます。また数年前までこの庭の枯山水の石の周囲には現在の龍安寺・石庭のようにかなりのボリュームで緑の苔が付いていましたが、取り除かれて本来のすっきりした姿に戻されています。他に近年作庭された石垣と北山杉の庭、古風な樹形に仕立てた黒松の坪庭がありこちらも大変美しく見ごたえがあります。

It is said that when Toyotomi Hideyoshi built Nagoya Castle in the west of Karatsu during the Azuchi-Momoyama period, one of the art staff who served Hideyoshi, Sorori Shinzaemon, created the garden. The pond garden where the water of the waterfall that flows down from the slope of Mt. Kagami pours belongs to the old style that was often made in mountain temples after the Muromachi period. It has undergone various renovations over the long years from the past to the present, and the magnificent splendor of Azuchi-Momoyama cannot be felt from the current calm garden landscape. It looks like a garden after the middle of the Edo period. However, the style of Karesansui with white sand and a pond filled with water in one garden is reminiscent of the garden of Daigoji Sanboin, which is related to Toyotomi Hideyoshi. Until a few years ago, there was a considerable amount of green moss around the dry landscape stones in this garden, like the current Ryoanji Temple and stone garden, but it has been removed and restored to its original neat appearance. .. In addition, there are stone walls and Kitayama cedar gardens that have been recently created, and a black pine tsubo-niwa that has been tailored to an old-fashioned tree shape, which is very beautiful.
