太宰府天満宮参道の両側には土産物店や梅が枝餅店が並んでいます。連日多くの観光客で賑わう参道ですが、それとは対象的に静かで落ち着いた時間が流れる坪庭が店の奥にある事はあまり知られていません。現在５つの店舗で坪庭が公開されています。なんと、ほとんどの店で梅ケ枝餅１個１３０円から利用可能です。

「小野筑紫堂」は太宰府天満宮へむかって参道を中程まで進んだ右側にある土産物屋兼梅ケ枝餅屋さんです。空いている時間帯であれば梅が枝餅一個の利用でも店の奥にある茶房でお茶のサービス付きでいただくことが出来ます。この茶房の名前は「好古（こうこ）」。実は小野筑紫堂の先祖が太宰府政庁長官の小野好古・よしふる(小野小町の従兄弟)であることにちなんでいます。小野好古は平安時代を代表する歌人の一人、小野篁の孫でもあり小野道風の兄でもあります。そんな偉大な祖先をもつ小野筑紫堂にはやはりどこか気品が感じられます。茶房の窓の外には小さいけれどなにやら歴史を感じさせる庭が。全体に皐月の刈り込みが植えられ、椿も一株。その上に枝を広げる主木の梅。そのそばに置かれた石灯籠はなんと石田三成から寄贈されたもの。建物左側の門が庭への専用の出入口ですが、庭内に入ることは出来ません。庭は後ろにいくほど緩やかにせり上がり茶房の窓から鑑賞するために設えられた座鑑式庭園です。早春には梅、真っ赤な椿が甘美に咲きほこり、初夏には皐月が庭をピンクに埋め尽くします。

(2) Ono chikushi Do / Dazaifu City, Fukuoka Prefecture

On both sides of An approach to Dazaifutenmangu shrine are plenty of sweet grilled rice cake "UmegaeMochi" shops. Five of them have enclosed garden behind them. There is a tea shop in the back of each shop. They are basically paid, but you can use them for 120 yen UmegaeMochi. Please be sure to buy one or more Umegaemochi at each shop and appreciate the garden.

"Ono Chikushi Do" is a souvenir shop and Umegae mochi shop on the right side of the approach to Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine. If the shop is not busy, you can eat Umegae mochi for just ¥ 130 at the teahouse in the back of the shop with tea service. The name of this teahouse is "Koko". The ancestor of the family who runs "Ono Chikushi Do" is named after "Ono no Yoshifuru" (a cousin of Ono no Komachi) who was the director of the Dazaifu government office. "Ono no Yoshifuru" is also the brother of "Ono no Tofu (Michikaze)", one of the leading poets of the Heian period. "Ono Chikushi Do", which has such a great ancestor, has something to do with it. Outside the window of the teahouse, you can see a small but historical garden. Many small azaleas, Satsuki, are planted throughout the garden, and one camellia plant. The main tree, plum, which spreads its branches on it. The stone lantern placed beside it was donated by the famous Sengoku warlord, Mitsunari Ishida. The gate on the left side of the building is a dedicated entrance to the garden, but you cannot enter the garden. The garden is a "Zakanshiki garden" designed for viewing from the window of the teahouse, which rises gently toward the back. In early spring, plum blossoms and bright red camellia flowers bloom sweetly, and in early summer, Satsuki flowers fill the garden in pink.
