「レストラン 暖家」大分県大分市

大分県大分市から豊肥本線沿いの国道１０号線を郊外へ向けて車で走り竹中駅を過ぎたあたりの左手にあるファミレス形式の大型洋食店に庭園があります。

庭園は店の裏山の傾斜を利用して築山としており、昭和５３年のレストラン開業時に作庭された新しい庭だが、室町時代の山寺などの古庭と共通する形式を持っている。この庭は回遊式ではなく、レストランの座席から眺める鑑賞式庭園であり、各座席から美しく見えるように計算され作られている。また裏山に隣り合う東と北に位置する２山を景観に取り込んだ借景式庭園である。写真だけ見ると枯山水のような印象だが、高さ３ｍにもなる立派な滝が築山から流れ落ちる水のある庭だ。滝の水は「遣水＝小川」となり庭の周囲を巡る。その意味において周囲を遣水で囲まれた庭の中央部分は島と見ることもできる。その中心に松を植えて主木としオーナーの趣味の鶴や鹿などの金工景物が置かれている。背後の斜面はダイナミックながらも印象がまろやかな角が少ない大きな石を組みあげ、その隙間をたまものに仕立てた皐月などの植栽で埋め、築山の一番上には枝垂れ桜を植栽し、季節ごとに花々が庭を彩る。滝の高い場所を庭全体を構成する二等辺三角形の頂点とし、そこからのびる二等辺の直線の終わりの位置にそれぞれ五重石塔と春日灯籠を置き安定感のある地割りとなっている。滝は５段以上あり途中から左半分は細かい段にわけてリズミカルに水を落とし、右半分は大きな石の表面を覆うように水を落とす伝い落ちとし、最後に左右の水を一つにまとめて遣水へと流す凝った設えだ。庭の周囲を巡った遣水は最終的には幅を広げ池と呼んでも良い広さとなり鯉も泳いでいる。定期的に庭師が入り管理状態は常に良い。

There is a garden at a large family-style western restaurant on the left side after passing JR Takenaka Station.

The garden is an artificial hill that uses the slope of the hill behind the restaurant, and although it is a new garden created when the restaurant opened in 1978, it has the same style as the old garden of a temple deep in the mountains in the Muromachi period. This garden is not a Kaiyu shiki style where you can walk inside, a viewing garden that you can see from the seats of the restaurant. It is also a borrowed landscape garden that incorporates the two mountains located to the east and north of the back mountain. Looking at the photo, it looks like a dry landscape garden, but in reality it is a garden with a splendid 3m high waterfall flowing down from an artificial hill. Water from the waterfall forms a "Yarimizu" stream that circulates around the garden. In that sense, the central part of the flat ground surrounded by Yarimizu can be seen as an island. Black pine is the main tree in the center, and there are cranes and deer made of metal crafts as the owner's hobby. The slope in the background is dynamic but has a mellow impression. Large stones with few corners are piled up, and the gaps between them are filled with azaleas pruned like spheres. The three-dimensional structure of the garden is an isosceles triangle with a sense of stability. The highest point of the waterfall is the apex of the isosceles triangle that forms the entire garden, and the five-storied stone pagoda and Kasuga stone lantern are placed at the end of the two straight lines extending downward in opposite directions. The waterfall has more than 5 stages, and the left half is divided into small stages and the water drops rhythmically, the right half has water falling over the entire surface of a large round stone. Two falling waters merge at the bottom and become Yarimizu. The yarimizu stream that runs around the garden widens to a size that can be called a pond, and Koi are swimming. The garden is regularly maintained by professional gardeners.
