石亭は広島県宮島対岸の宮浜温泉にある高級旅館。純和風の設えにモダンやクラシックな椅子とテーブルを配し、また料理が大変美味しいことから内外の旅行客に絶大な人気を誇る。東西に伸びる瀬戸内海に面した中国山地の傾斜を活かして北の山側に主棟を建てその東西両側から腕のように離れの客室棟が伸び、庭をコの字型に取り囲み、南の海側は解き放って宮島を望んでいる。庭は北側の丸い池と南側の丸い芝生の広場を中心とし瓢箪型のプランで瓢箪型の縁に沿って要所に主木の黒松や石組みや灯籠が配されている。北側の高い方から庭を望むと池から水が流れ出し渓流となりまるで海に注ぐように見える。南の下段側から上を望むと中国山地の岩山を借景とした旅館の建築群と庭が一体となった見事な景観が堪能できる。

" Sekite Teien no yadoi" Hiroshima Prefecture

Sekitei is a luxury inn located in Miyahama Onsen on the opposite shore of Miyajima, Hiroshima Prefecture. The restaurant has a purely Japanese-style setting with modern and classic chairs and tables, and the food is delicious, making it extremely popular among domestic and foreign tourists.

This inn was built to take advantage of the slope of the Chugoku Mountains, which faces the Seto Inland Sea and stretches from east to west. First, the main building was built on the northern mountain side, with guest rooms extending like arms from both east and west sides, surrounding the garden in a U-shape. There are no guest rooms on the southern sea side, but the view is open to the view of Miyajima.

The entire garden is on a slope, with a gourd-shaped design centered around a round pond on the higher north side and a round lawn square on the lower south side. Along the gourd-shaped edges, black pine as the main tree, stonework, and lanterns are placed at key points.

When you look at the garden from a high point on the north side, you can see the water flowing out of the pond, giving the illusion that it is flowing into the sea. If you look up from the lower south side, you can enjoy the magnificent scenery of the inn's architecture and the garden, with the rocky mountains of the Chugoku Mountains as a backdrop.
