「鮎川家」長崎県平戸市

鮎川家は、毎年春に開催されていた「平戸お庭めぐり」でも一般公開されていました。（2023年を最後に中止状態）。大変素晴らしいイベントでしたのでその再開を願って「平戸お庭めぐり」で公開されていた庭園のいくつかを資料として投稿します。

鮎川家は旧平戸藩士の家系で当時の鉱山技師で鉱山経営者だった鮎川甚五右衛門によって1881(明治14)年に建てられた。

日の浦港から北に入った谷間に所在する。東西棟の入母屋造木造２階建を中心に、東に寄棟造平屋建、西に切妻造、南北に下屋を付ける。内玄関と式台玄関を設け、網干の組子細工などの豪華な付書院を備える主座敷。小堀遠州好みの意匠を配した雨戸袋など繊細で豪華な設えを尽くした近代和風住宅の一例となっている。

屋敷地の南面は２段に石垣が築かれ平戸ツツジが植栽されている。石垣の上段は長さ８４ｍで高さ０．２～３．２ｍ、下段が長さ１０４ｍで高さは０．３～１．３ｍ。 石段側壁は長さ３０ｍで、布積や亀甲積とし、意匠に変化を与えている。

"Ayukawa Family Home" Hirado City, Nagasaki Prefecture

The Ayukawa Family Home was also open to the public during the "Hirado Garden Tour" held every spring. (It is currently canceled after 2023). It was a wonderful event, so I hope to see it resumed, and I will post some of the gardens that were open to the public during the "Hirado Garden Tour" as reference material.

The Ayukawa Family Home was built in 1881 (Meiji 14) by Ayukawa Jingoemon, a mining engineer and mine manager at the time, who was a descendant of a former Hirado feudal lord.

It is located in a valley north of Hinoura Port. The home is centered around a two-story wooden gabled roof building with an east-west wing, a single-story hipped roof building to the east, a gabled roof building to the west, and a shed to the north and south. The main room has an inner entrance for the family and a Shikidai entrance for nobles, and a luxurious attached shoin with Aboshi kumiko work. It is an example of a modern Japanese-style house, with delicate and luxurious furnishings such as rain shutter pockets with designs favored by Kobori Enshu.

The south side of the house is built with two stone walls and planted with Hirado azaleas. The upper stone wall is 84m long and 0.2-3.2m high, while the lower stone wall is 104m long and 0.3-1.3m high.

The side walls of the stone steps are 30m long and are built with cloth and hexagonal patterns, adding variety to the design.
