古き良き町並みが残る人吉市鍛冶屋町通りにある明治10(1877)年創業の人吉球磨茶の老舗のお茶屋さん。隣接する町家ギャラリーでは伝統的な日本家屋でお茶の歴史や効能、おいしい飲み方などを学びながら大正時代の庭園を眺めることもできます。庭園は大きな窓ガラス越しに一枚の絵画のよう、景石や石灯籠、飛び石、手水鉢、竹垣などの点景に加え、枯木の蝋梅などの落葉樹の植栽がたくみに交互に重ねられ光を存分に取り入れながら視線を奥へとさり気なく促し、奥行きの深い景色を作り出しています

A long-established Hitoyoshi Kuma Tea store founded in 1877 on Kajiyacho Street in Hitoyoshi City, where the good old townscape remains. In the adjacent Machiya Gallery, you can learn about the history, benefits, and delicious ways to drink tea in a traditional Japanese house while admiring the Taisho-era garden. The garden looks like a painting through the large windows. In addition to the decorative stones, stone lanterns, stepping stones, water basins, bamboo fences, and other points of interest, deciduous trees such as dead wintersweets are skillfully layered to allow the light in and subtly draw the eye deeper into the garden, creating a landscape with great depth.
