「大興善寺」佐賀県・”Daiko zen ji temple”Saga-pref.

大興善寺は奈良時代に聖武天皇の勅願により行基が開山したと伝わります。現在の境内は江戸時代に復興されたもので、この寺がある基山が長崎の対馬藩となったため藩主の宗氏が再興したものです。基山は大陸防衛の要でした。春の大興善寺はツツジで埋め尽くされ別名「ツツジ寺」と呼ばれます。山の急斜面にそびえる杉林の間にモミジや楓が植えられ秋には紅葉狩りの客でにぎわいます。寺の庭園整備は大正時代から始まったと言われ、昭和期に作られた中根金作の手水鉢の庭などもあります。近年の九州北部豪雨では被害を受けましたが復興しています。秋は同じく近隣の紅葉の名所「九年庵」とあわせて巡る人が多いようです。

“Daiko zen ji temple” was founded in the 8th century. The temple repeated its prosperity and decline within its long history. The present buildings of this temple were rebuilt in the Edo period. Azalea is the most famous garden of this temple. But autumn leaves are also beautiful. Japanese maples are planted between the crown on the mountain slope. There is also a small garden of water basin made by Kinsaku Nakane during the Showa era.
