「日当山せごどん村」鹿児島県・”Hinatayama Segodon Village” Kagoshima-pref

温泉好きの西郷隆盛が鹿児島でもっとも通った温泉・日当山（ひなたやま）で定宿とした地元の豪農・龍寶(りゅうほう)家。その屋敷で西郷隆盛が泊まった部屋を復元した観光資料館・レストラン・野菜や酒や弁当などの地域製品の販売店・足湯・最新式のトイレなどを併設した小さな観光施設。2019年1月23日にリニューアルオープン。施設に面して龍寶(りゅうほう)家のものと思われる古い池泉式庭園があり、西郷さんが馬を繋いだマキの木や、白梅の老木がある。また、ソテツはもちろんフェニックスなどの亜熱帯植物の植栽は南九州の日本庭園ならでは。興味深いのは古い朝鮮石塔、これは薩摩地方を中心に九州だけで見られる石造景物で、密貿易をしていた薩摩藩ならではで朝鮮から輸入されたもの。使い込まれ風化した手水鉢もこの庭の歴史を感じさせる。この庭園は無料の足湯につかりながら鑑賞ができる珍しい設えとなっている。

The Ryuho family, which was set up as a camp at Hinatayama, the hot spring that Saigo Takamori visited most in Kagoshima. A small tourist facility with a tourist museum, a restaurant, a store for local products such as vegetables, sake and lunch boxes, a footbath, and a state-of-the-art toilet, which is a restored room where Saigo Takamori always stayed in the mansion. Reopened on January 23, 2019. Facing the facility, there is an old pond-style garden that seems to belong to the Ryuho family, and in the garden there are Maki trees with horses connected by Mr. Saigo and old white plum trees. What is interesting is the old Korean stone pagoda, a stone landscape that can be seen only in Kyushu, mainly in the Satsuma region, and the old ones are imported from Korea. It seems that the garden was originally a strolling type, but now you can go around the area where you can cross the wooden bridge and go to the side of Shiraume. It is a rare setting where you can enjoy the garden while soaking in the free footbath.
