文政11年(1828)の建築と庭園。小さな屋敷だが式台を備えた格式高い武家屋敷である。もとは柳川藩の中級武士の隠居所だったが改装し柳川藩主・立花家の茶室とした。

まず国指定名勝の池泉回遊式庭園は小さいながらも本格的な州浜を有する池を持ち、全体の縄張りはよくまとまっている。池の水は柳川の町を縦横に流れるクリークの水を東から取り入れ西へ流している。また取水口近くに祀られたお稲荷様の真っ赤な鳥居も庭の添景物となっている。庭には武家庭園らしい松の植栽が多く見られる。池には小ぶりで背丈を抑えた素朴な山燈籠を浮かべ武家らしい質素さを尊ぶ精神を感じさせる一方で、縁先に据えた人工的な造形の八角形の手水鉢が目を引く。八角形はおそらく風水に基づく。またその手水鉢の足元には珊瑚や真っ白な石灰石などが置かれ印象的。さらに縁側の沓脱石から池に伸びる飛び石の列は州浜を超えて池中へと進み池を越えて対岸まで至っている。次に建築について。茶室に躙口はなく貴人口のみ。茶室には珍しいガラスの小窓がある。床の間の土壁は左右両側には洞窟のように角がなく美しい曲線を描いている。この茶室の最も大きな特徴は床の間脇につくられた偃月型の下地窓。この窓が開けられているのは式台玄関真正面の裏側のにあたる。とうぜん窓はリバーシブルになっており、窓は式台玄関側からは三日月に、裏側の茶室側からは有明月に見える。「有明月」は愛染明王の象徴で江戸時代に盛んだった「月待（つきまち）・二十六夜講」の風習では愛欲を肯定するもの。小さな茶室に有明月とはかなり乙な趣向であるが、この屋敷は月待にも関連する月見の行事を意識して作られ、そもそも江戸時代の月見は子孫繁栄に深く関わっていた。茶室には数寄屋建築に特徴的な竹が多用され屋敷内の様々な場所に同様の特徴が認められる。竹の多用は当時の武家に大変人気が高かった「竹林七賢人 / 魏（三国時代）」への強い憧れなどが垣間見える。そもそもこの屋敷は茶室を主としていたため数寄屋の設らえが目につくが、その全体は武家らしい書院様式でまとめられている。板戸に浮彫りされ胡粉で白く浮き立たせた漢詩は同時代の武家屋敷ではしばしば見られるもので、ここでは李白｢濁酌｣、張謂「湖中對酒作」が選ばれており、この茶室で大いに酒が振る舞われたであろうことを物語っている。また貴人が通る頭上の欄間には欠かせない「吹き寄せ菱」が各所につくられ上級武家の屋敷ならではの高い品格を誇っている。

Built in 1828 (Bunsei 11). Although it is a small mansion, it is a prestigious samurai mansion equipped with a private entrance "Shikidai" where a noble guest can ride on the palanquin. This mansion was originally built as a retreat for middle-class samurai of the Yanagawa domain, but was renovated to become the tea room of the Yanagawa domain lord Tachibana family.

The nationally designated scenic Chisenkai yushiki garden has a pond with a small but full-scale artificial beach, and a small and small Yama lantern with a small height is floated on the stone of the pond, and the spirit of poverty that respects the simpleness of a samurai is respected. On the other hand, the octagonal water basin placed outside the corridor is eye-catching. The octagon is probably based on Feng Shui. In addition, coral and pure white limestone are placed under the water base, which is impressive. Furthermore, a row of stepping stones from the shoe-removing stone placed outside the corridor to the pond goes over the state beach into the pond, and over the pond to the opposite bank. The water of the pond takes in the water of the creek that flows vertically and horizontally through the town of Yanagawa from the east and flows to the west. The bright red torii gate of a small shrine near the water intake is also a garden accessory. The main trees in the garden are pine trees.

Next is about architecture.There is no Nijiriguchi in the tea room, only Kininguchi. The biggest feature of this tea room is the crescent window created next to Tokonoma. The wall with this window is right in front of the Shikidai entrance, right next to the tea room. The windows are reversible. Bamboo, which is characteristic of the Sukiya style, is often used around the tea room, but the entire building is organized in the Shoin style of the samurai family. Chinese poetry embossed on the board and highlighted with white pigment is often seen in samurai residences in the late Edo period, where Li Bai and Zhang Wei's works are selected. In addition, "Fukiyose Bishi" is set up on the walk of noble people, and boasts the high dignity that only the mansion of a senior samurai family has.
