「石照庭園」 島根県

「石照庭園」は奥出雲木次の「堀江洋伸」氏の私邸に平成１２年に完成した個人庭園。設計は広島の三景園も手掛けた伊藤邦衛。現在は入園料を支払えば見学可能でレンタルルームなども利用できる。お勧めは離れ「近江屋」でとる昼食。室料・入園料込￥3.800-で懐石料理がいただける（要予約）。京都で修行した料理人が作る懐石は本当に美味しい。

受付で入園手続きを済ませるとすぐ右手に花菖蒲畑がある。そのむこうに池泉庭園があり四阿や土橋があり背後の山の斜面から滝も流れ落ちている。このあたりは秋の紅葉が美しい。庭園は建物の周囲にも広がっている。特に離れの「近江屋」の窓から眺める庭園が美しい。たまもの仕立ての手入れも大変良い。庭園は何かを表現しているというよりは公園のような趣を持っており、それは作庭者である伊藤邦衛の「庭園の主役はそこを訪れた人間」というポリシーによるところが大きいようだ。また近江屋は数寄屋の粋を凝らした作りで書院の櫛形窓は桂離宮の写し、その他にも覗き込んでみないと気が付けない場所に煤竹が使われ、外観の刎（はね）高欄は社寺などで見られる格式高い作りになっているなど大変見どころが多い。

"Sekisho Garden" Shimane Prefecture

"Sekisho Garden" is a private garden completed in 2000 at the private residence of Mr. Hironobu Horie of Okuizumo. It was designed by Kunie Ito, who also designed Sankeien in Hiroshima. Currently, you can tour the park by paying an admission fee, and rental rooms are also available.

We recommend having lunch at sukiya architecture "Omiya". Kaiseki cuisine is available for ¥3,800 (including room and admission fees) (reservation required). The kaiseki cuisine prepared by a chef trained in Kyoto is truly delicious.

As soon as we completed the entrance formalities at the reception desk, we could see the iris field on our right. Beyond that is a pond garden with a gazebo and earthen bridge, and a waterfall cascading down from the mountain slope behind it. The autumn leaves are beautiful around here.

The garden also extends around the building. The view of the garden from the window of the detached “Omiya'' is especially beautiful. The garden is also very well maintained.

The garden has the feel of a park rather than an expression of something, and this seems to be largely due to the policy of the garden designer, Kunie Ito, who said that ``the main character of the garden is the people who visit it.''

Omiya is an elaborate sukiya building, and the shoin's Kushigatamado/comb-shaped window is a copy of the Katsura Imperial Villa. In addition, Susudake bamboo is used in places that you won't notice unless you look into it, and the Hanekouran railing on the exterior has the same formal construction as seen in shrines and temples, so there are many other things to see.
