「永山邸／カフェ明石屋」 長崎県平戸市

永山邸は、元々廻船問屋「明石屋」で明治３６年の火災で焼失しましたが、翌年には焼失前とそっくりに再現されました。永山家の家伝では、明石屋は幕末の志士たちの密談の場所、緊急時の隠れ家として使用されており、西郷隆盛、高杉晋作、桂小五郎などのほか、名前を伏せた坂本龍馬がこの家の２階で密談をした」と言い伝えられています。2階の床の間には床柱などに黒檀紫檀鉄刀木の３銘木が揃い在りし日の廻船問屋明石家の繁栄ぶりを伺わせています。庭は坪庭で広くはありませんが海辺にも関わらず淡水の池を設けており贅沢な設えと言えるでしょう。永山邸内には「カフェ明石屋」があり落ち着いた空間で、手作りのケーキなどを楽しむことができます。（ランチやディナーなどの食事は要予約）

"Nagayama House/Cafe Akashiya" Hirado City, Nagasaki Prefecture

The Nagayama House was originally a shipping wholesaler called "Akashiya" and was destroyed by fire in 1903, but was restored exactly to its original state the following year. According to the Nagayama family's family lore, Akashiya was used as a place for secret meetings between patriots at the end of the Edo period and as a hideout in times of emergency. It is said that in addition to Saigo Takamori, Takasugi Shinsaku, and Katsura Kogoro, Sakamoto Ryoma, who does not reveal his name, held secret meetings on the second floor of this house. The alcove on the second floor is decorated with three famous woods: ebony, rosewood, and Bombay black wood, and its splendor tells us of the prosperity of the Akashi family, a shipping wholesaler in the past. The garden is a small courtyard garden and not large, but it has a freshwater pond, despite the fact that it is by the sea where it is difficult to obtain fresh water, and it can be said to be a luxurious arrangement. Inside the Nagayama House, there is "Cafe Akashiya", where you can enjoy homemade cakes and other items in a relaxing space. (Reservations required for lunch, dinner, etc.)
