「栽柳園」熊本県八代市

栽柳園は球磨川のほとりに明治初期に作られた八代城の元城主の隠居所。球磨川から水を引き入れた池泉廻遊式庭園。屋敷内には能舞台があった。すでに明治末期には屋敷は失われその敷地は小学校が建てられ、現在は校庭の片隅にひっそりと庭園遺構だけが残されている。また球磨川の堤防が拡張されたため庭は縮小されているのでオリジナルの姿は残された絵で偲ぶしかない。同じ肥後藩の水前寺成趣園を強く意識して富士の形の築山が設けられ、なぜかその築山だけが完璧に保存されている。ちなみに大正時代の小学校校舎がすぐそばに保存されておりそちらも興味深い。

"Sairyu-en" Yatsushiro city, Kumamoto-pref

I also visit many Japanese gardens that are devastating or disappearing. It is a garden that revives beautifully if the gardener keeps it properly. However, in the current situation it may not be worth visiting them. I will post those images as academic materials here. Please look at them as garden researchers.

A retired house of the Daimyo made in the early Meiji era. There was a stage of Noh in the mansion. The garden attached to the mansion was a beautiful Chisen Kaiyu Shiki Teien. However, the site is now an elementary school, and it is secretly left as a ruins garden in a corner of the schoolyard. The original garden has no choice but to memorize with the picture left behind. Only artificial mountains in the shape of Mount Fuji are preserved perfectly. It is the same style as Suizenji Gyobu-en in Kumamoto prefecture. There is the same thing also in Tatton Japanese garden in the UK.
