「小村寿太郎 生家」 宮崎県日南市

日本を代表する明治の外交官で2度にわたって外務大臣を務めた小村寿太郎（こむらじゅたろう）は、飫肥城下の町役人の長男として現在の生誕碑の場所で生まれました。その後、小村家が破産したため、明治時代後期に、生家は別の場所に移築、さらに大正10年に現在地に移築されたものです。老朽化の進んでいた生家を市が改修し、平成16年4月から公開しています。庭園も大正時代に作庭されたもののようです。植栽が成長しすぎていますが、石をふんだんに用いて深山幽谷の世界を表現した独特の枯山水庭園です。

"Komura Jutaro's Birthplace" Nichinan City, Miyazaki Prefecture

Komura Jutaro, a representative Meiji diplomat and two-time Minister of Foreign Affairs, was born at the site of the current birth monument as the eldest son of a town official in Obi Castle Town. Later, the Komura family went bankrupt, so in the late Meiji period, the birthplace was moved to another location, and then in 1921, it was moved to its current location. The city renovated the aging birthplace and opened it to the public in April 2004. The garden also appears to have been created in the Taisho period. Although the plants have grown too large, it is a unique dry landscape garden that uses an abundance of stones to express the world of deep mountains and secluded valleys.
