「溪石園」大分県・“Keiseki-en” Oita-pref

1987年(昭和62年)、耶馬溪ダムの完成記念に造られた2万平方メートルの規模の大きな日本庭園です。ダムの水を利用して耶馬溪の渓谷景観を再現しています。敷地の高低差をうまく活かして、庭の最上部から流れだした遣水は斜面をゆっくり蛇行しながら池となり再び細くなり太くなり様々に変化しながら低い方へと流れ下り、クライマックスの大きな男滝・女滝を経て一番下の池泉に至るとてもドラマチックで楽しい回遊式の庭園です。またこの溪石園には加工された石灯籠のような石の景物は一切なく、谷川から運ばれたきた数万個の川石だけで構成されています。また耶馬渓の風景を思わせる巨石の大石組みが要所にあり、男滝女滝の石組や、高さ５ｍを超える大立石「平田の大石」などはまさに圧巻です。また日本庭園としては大変めずらしい丸型の沈床庭園なども見どころの一つです。庭内には枝垂れ桜などの花木を含めてモミジやカエデなど100種3万1000本以上の植栽がなされています。また芝生の広場やベンチや屋根付きの橋や四阿などが整えられ訪れた人は庭内で自由に過ごすことが出来ます。溪石園は、昭和後期に多く見られた地方自治体によって作られた市民および観光のための日本庭園と位置づけられます。

広大な傾斜地に広がる庭園の上下にある池泉庭のうち上の池泉庭が小さな滝を中心にライトアップされています。明るい夕方のうちに来園し庭内を散策してからトイレがあるカフェで暖を取りつつ甘いお菓子などを楽しんで暗くなるのを待つのがベスト。

“Keiseki-en” Nakatsu-city Oita-pref

Yabakei in Nakatsu City, Oita Prefecture is a scenic spot famous for its clear water valley river, rocky mountains, and autumn leaves. Keiseki-en is a Japanese garden built in 1987 to commemorate the completion of the Yabakei Dam. This garden reproduces the mountain stream landscape of Ymabakei which was submerged in the dam lake. Many stones placed in the garden were taken from the Yabakei Valley River. There are no artificial elements like stone lanterns in the garden. There are 31,000 planted 100 kinds of trees in the site of 20,000 square meters, and there are valley river, waterfall, pond and so on. We can go around in the large garden. There are a bridge, a gazebo and benches in the garden, and you can also eat a lunch on a picnic. Of course, the condition that you bring the trash home. In Showa era, the local government created a Japanese garden for the citizens like this Keiseki-en. This garden is very beautifully maintained. Please visit us if you travel in Oita Prefecture.

Of the pond gardens above and below the garden on the vast slope, the upper pond garden is lit up centering on a small waterfall. It's best to come to the park in a bright evening, stroll around the garden, warm up in a cafe with a toilet, enjoy sweets and wait for it to darken.

get off at "Uchimachi Iriguchi", and walk for 5 minutes.
