「康国寺 庭園」島根県・"Kokokuji Garden" Shimane Pref

松江藩7代藩主・松平治郷（号・不昧）お抱えの庭師・沢玄丹により天保元年（1830）から三年半の歳月をかけて築かれたと言われています。不昧公好みの「出雲流庭園」で平庭に敷き詰めた白砂に飛び石や延段を主な添景物として配置しポイントとして一基の石灯籠を置くスタイルで、島根県内でもこの康国寺がある平田市と出雲市・菱川町だけにしか見られない大変ローカルな庭園様式です。また石灯籠も「古唐形灯籠」と呼ばれる独特のもので、中台の蓮華の請花の内側に溝を彫り水を貯め、火口の灯りをその水面に反射させる珍しい機能を有した他では見ないものとなっています（排水穴の栓を抜けば水は抜けます）。さらにこの康国寺庭園では借景としている裏山の旅伏（たぶし）山と貯水池（錦鏡池）の自然山水が人工的な枯山水と対となり調和して独特の景観となっています。お堂の室内から鑑賞するための庭には出られません。また境内には島根県特産で不昧公好みと伝わる来待石（きまちいし）で作られた珍しい屋根瓦や石塔などを見ることもできます。

"Kokokuji Garden" Shimane Prefecture

It is said that it was built over three and a half years from the first year of Tenpo (1830) by the gardener, Gentan Sawa, who is the 7th feudal lord of the Matsue domain, Matsudaira Harusato (Gagô, Fumai・不昧). Hirata City, where Kokokuji Temple is located in Shimane Prefecture It is a very local garden style that can only be seen in Izumo City and Hishikawa Town. The stone lantern is also a unique one called "Koto gata lantern", which has a unique function of carving a groove inside the lotus flower of Chudai to store water and reflecting the light on the surface of the water. (Water can be drained by removing the plug from the drain hole). This Kokokuji garden has a borrowed view of the natural Tabushi mountain and Kinkyochi pond, and creates a unique landscape in harmony with the artificial dry landscape garden・Karesansui. You cannot go out to the garden for viewing from inside the hall.
