太宰府天満宮神苑 (１) 心字池／福岡県太宰府市

平安時代の心字池が江戸初期に改修され現在の姿になったが、平安から現代まで様々な時代に改修が加えられ、苑池には異なる様式が共存している。丸い島は江戸時代、岩島にはどこか室町時代の面影が残り、隣接する菖蒲池から水をおとす滝石組は大正時代のもの。天満宮境内は本来仏教寺院・安楽寺の境内であり、明治以前までは社殿の周囲に三重塔など仏教建築が建ち並び神仏習合していた。池には禅寺の庭園でみられる神仙思想に基づく舟石も残されているが、各地の神社にある神苑ではそう珍しいことではない。太鼓橋 ×２、平橋 ×１ 、計三つの神橋が池に架かる。それぞれ過去・現在・未来を表す。池の周囲にそびえる樟の巨木は菅原道真公が葬られた平安当時この地が楠の巨木が生い茂る森であった名残で、太宰府天満宮ならではの景観となっている。また菅原道真にちなんだ梅も多く植栽され独特の景観となっている。

すぐ近くに九州で唯一見学できる重森三玲作庭の枯山水がある「光明禅寺」もあります。

The heart character pond which was made as the barrier of the shrine during the Heian era was rebuilt in the early Edo period and reached the present. However, renovations were added to various era from the Heian to the present age, and the style of each age coexists with the garden of the pond. The round island was the work of the Edo period, the island of the rock had the atmosphere of Muromachi period, the waterfall stone arrangement was made in the Taisho era. Taiko Bridge 2, flat bridge 1, a total of three bridges are in the pond. Three bridges have a red handrail, a gorgeous atmosphere like a shrine. The large camphor tree bordered by the pond holds the pond with a large branch, creating a unique garden landscape of Dazaifu.
