Fumonin/Kangetsuan” Shimane Prefecture

Fumon-in was built as Toyokuni Shrine in the castle town when Matsue Castle was built. After that, the shrine became a temple and was destroyed in a large fire, and moved to its current location in 1689. There is a tea room built in 1801 in the style of Hosokawa Sansai, and it is said that Fumai Matsudaira, the seventh lord of the Matsudaira clan, often visited here, and Yakumo Koizumi also received tea ceremony lessons here during the Meiji period. It features a large circular window for viewing the moon. Additionally, there is a chrysanthemum charcoal embedded in the foot of the seating area, a setting that the general public who are not familiar with tea ceremonies rarely see, so please do not overlook it.
