三瀧寺は創建３０９年の古刹。三滝山（宗箇山）の中腹に位置する境内は深山幽谷の趣きを呈し秋は紅葉の名所として知られ大勢の参拝者で賑わう。境内の中ほど「梵音の滝」をのぞむ苔むした茅葺き屋根の「茶堂」があり、その前庭として重森三玲(1896年 - 1975年)により作庭された池泉鑑賞式庭園「補陀落の庭」（昭和３０年代後半）がある。補陀洛とはサンスクリット語の「Potalaka」の音訳、観音菩薩が住まう浄土を意味する。またインドの南海岸にある八角形の山ともされる。庭は普段は参道の坂道から柵越しの鑑賞しかできないが秋の紅葉シーズンには開放されて抹茶が振る舞われ茶堂の正面から緋毛氈が敷かれた腰掛けに座り重森三玲の真骨頂である立石が美しい庭園を心ゆくまで鑑賞できる。また茶堂はダライ・ラマ十四世が滞在したこともある由緒あるもの、呈茶開放中は茶堂に上がることもできる。

Mitaki Dera Temple is an ancient temple founded 309 years ago. Located on the slope of Mt. Mitaki (Mt. Soko), the temple grounds have the atmosphere of a deep mountain valley, and are known as a famous spot for viewing autumn leaves in the fall, attracting many worshippers. In the middle of the temple grounds, there is a moss-covered thatched-roof tea hall overlooking the Bon-in Falls, and in front of it is the Fudaraku no niwa Garden (late 1950s), a pond garden designed by Mirei Shigemori (1896 - 1975). Normally, the temple can only be viewed through a fence from the slope of the approach to the temple, but during the autumn foliage season, the temple is opened to the public, and matcha tea is served. You can sit on a bench covered with a scarlet carpet in front of the tea hall and enjoy the beautiful garden with its standing stones, which is the essence of Mirei Shigemori, to your heart's content. The tea hall is also a historic building where the 14th Dalai Lama once stayed, and you can go up to the tea hall during the tea-serving open period.
