「旧松本邸 Vol.2 日本館（西日本工業倶楽部）」福岡県北九州市戸畑区

旧松本邸は、炭鉱を基礎に日本の近代産業の発展に多大な貢献を果たした安川財閥を築いた安川敬一郎の次男・松本健次郎（健次郎は安川敬一郎の兄・松本潜と養子縁組）の邸宅として1912年に完成した。この大邸宅は戦後一時期は進駐軍に接収されていたが返還後1952年一般社団法人 西日本工業倶楽部の設立時に松本家から譲渡された。現在は主に結婚式場・レストランとして活用されている。（2022年春より隣接する安川邸も同倶楽部の管理となった。）

　旧松本邸は、洋館・日本館２つの建物があり通路で結ばれている。日本館は建築面積466.1平方メートル、中央書院・大座敷が雁行する書院座敷と居室を備えた建物。洋館の建築監督をした久保田小三郎による設計。日本館の庭はシンプルで慎ましい中にも一際豪華な駕籠石が安川家の威容を誇っているようだ。

The former Matsumoto Residence was completed in 1912 as the residence of Matsumoto Kenjiro (Kenjiro was adopted by Yasukawa Keiichiro's older brother Matsumoto Sen), the second son of Yasukawa Keiichiro, who built the Yasukawa Zaibatsu, which made a great contribution to the development of modern industry in Japan based on coal mines. This large mansion was requisitioned by the occupying forces for a period after the war, but after its return it was transferred from the Matsumoto family to the West Japan Industrial Club General Incorporated Association in 1952 when it was established. It is currently used mainly as a wedding hall and restaurant. (The adjacent Yasukawa Residence will also be managed by the same club from spring 2022.)

The former Matsumoto Residence consists of two buildings, a Western-style building and a Japan Pavilion, connected by a corridor. The Japan Pavilion has a floor area of ​​466.1 square meters, and the central study and large room are arranged in a zigzag pattern. A building with a guest room and a room for the family. The Japanese Pavilion was designed by Kosaburo Kubota, who also oversaw the construction of the Western-style building. The Japanese Pavilion's garden is simple and modest, but the particularly gorgeous kagoishi stone seems to show off the dignity of the Yasukawa family.
