「円覚寺」 福岡市博多区

円覚寺は、1246年に宋より渡来した高僧、大覚禅師（蘭渓道隆）に縁があり開山された。はじめ、現在の祇園町（当時の矢倉門）にあったが戦乱により焼失、1636年に聖福寺の境内に基礎を移転し、聖福寺の塔頭寺院となった。円覚寺には福岡藩士立花実山直筆の「南方録」が伝承されており、茶と禅の道場として知られている。円覚寺は茶の湯には門戸を開いているが基本的には拝観謝絶で毎年秋の博多旧市街ライトアップウォークで夜間のみ一般公開される。

"Engakuji Temple" Hakata Ward, Fukuoka City

Engakuji Temple was founded in 1246 by the high priest Daikaku Zenji (Rankei Doryu), who came from Song China. It was originally located in what is now Gion-cho (where Yaguramon was then), but was burned down during wars, and in 1636 it was moved to the grounds of Shofuku-ji Temple and became a sub-temple of Shofuku-ji Temple. Engakuji Temple is known as a training center for tea and Zen, and is home to the "Nanpo-roku" handwritten by Fukuoka feudal samurai Tachibana Jitszan. Engakuji Temple is open to the public for tea ceremonies, but visitors are generally not allowed, and it is only open to the public at night during the Hakata Old Town Light-up Walk every autumn.
